It is possible to sell your home in both good times and in bad it will depend on a few things how quick you are able to sell. In good times, the markets dictate the price while in financially difficult times buyers will dictate the market. Knowing this will go a long way to finding a price that is right for your home in the present market. By adjusting your price to fit into the current real estate market may be the difference between selling your home or taking it off the market and waiting until the prices settle.
Lowering the price of a home is one of the most difficult things for people to actually do. This however, is what many sellers do to get the sale of their homes in economically difficult times if they need to sell their home in a short amount of time. Many people get caught up in the idea that because their home was valued at a certain price 6 months ago, it is still viable to sell at that price today. Because purchasers dictate the sale price in rough times, this is not the safest way to go.

Many real estate agents will test the market around your area before they recommend a final price. If you need to sell your home in a short amount of time, they may not have the time to do this effectively but they will try not out price your home or undervalue it so you want a quick and profitable sale as much as you do.
Don't be scared if you are not in a hurry, to add a little to the price you are asking as you may be likely to sell your home at the higher price when the right buyer comes along. Don't rely on your friends to know how much your home is worth as they can only guess, it is your real estate agent you should question when setting the price as they have the inside knowledge on how the market is sitting at the time.
