So how does one find a good real estate agent? Where do I start looking do you ask? Finding the right agent is easier than what you think. A good agent won’t make you feel pressured or uncertain. They will not put a contract in front of you demanding you list with them exclusively and immediately. They will give you time.
Make a few phone calls, book a few appointments. Visit them in their agency and see how their agency interacts with their customers. Find out their point of difference. When first speaking to them advise them at this time you are only having a chat, you do not want to sign some paperwork here and now with them. You are only making initial inquiries with them at this point in time.
Once you have booked the appointment, discuss a few things with them, how are they going to advertise the home, what they charge, how is their agency better than the one down the street? Don’t sign with anybody until you’ve spoken to a few of them.
Listen to what the agent has to say in regards to property presentation, marketing and price. They are the experts; they sell properties everyday in your area. Do not choose an agent that you feel uncomfortable with. They need to listen to you as well. Remember this is a professional relationship not a one way street. This is a stressful time; you do not need the agent adding to it.
Most importantly make sure the agent is effective, professional and most importantly one that you feel can get you the best possible price for your home.
